Kanye West and Others Respond To Ice-T/Soulja Boy Beef

As you should know by now, there has been all kinds of chatter about the recent drama between Ice-T and Soulja Boy. Several hiphop heavyweights have went on record to voice their opinion of this matter including Kanye West and Mr. Colli Park.

Here's what Kanye West said on his blog:

Soulja boy is fresh ass hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip hop is sposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song. He had all of America rapping this summer. If that ain’t Hip Hop then what is? A bunch of wannabe keep it real rappers that ain’t even relevant, recycling samples trying to act like it’s 96 again and all they do is hate on new shit? Ni*gas always talk about the golden age but for a 13 year old kid, this is the golden age!!! That song was so dope cause everything he said had a hidden meaning… that’s Nas level sh*t… he just put it over some steel drums which is also some Nas sh*t if you had the 2nd album cassette with the bonus track “Silent Murder” on it. In closing… new niggas get ya money$$$$$$$$$$ Keep this sh*t fresh and original…. ain’t no fu*kin’ rules to this sh*t and that’s what real hip hop is to me.
Here's statement released by Producer Mr. Collipark:
It's a sad day when a 40 year old black man who means so much to the foundation of hip hop goes in on a 17 year old black kid in the name of selling a record. I really looked up to the accomplishments of Ice T. He went from being a skinny pimp with a perm rapping over gangster beats to one of the most talented actors to be birthed from hip hop. I can't understand why instead of reaching out to Soulja Boy behind the scene and having a talk with him about his views on Soulja's influence, he chose the route of dissing him. On top of all that, he wasn't that good a rapper himself, but he stood for hip hop. Therefore, I had love for him. What's even worse, the blogs that i've seen on the internet don't see anything wrong with his attack. It's not even about music at this point. He is a disgrace as a black man. That's sick. That's the state of shit in the world right now. There is no sense of right or wrong anymore. It's every man for himself. Good luck y'all!"
Obviously, Ice-T is not in the position to win this battle with Soulja Boy! I think that these old has-been rappers should leave the new age rappers like Soulja Boy alone and focus on gettin' a proper retirement plan.
